The University of Auckland
Journey mapping the researcher experience
Role
I helped design the research, conducted interviews, analysis, illustration, and reporting.

The Challenge
The University of Auckland had completed a journey map of the student experience, and found it insightful and useful. Satisfaction amongst their researchers was low; they wanted to similarly research and map the researcher experience, to understand gaps and feed into strategic improvement.
Approach
The lead researcher and I conducted research with the researchers, in a very meta process! We scripted, conducted, and analysed interviews, a mix of remote and in-person, across a range of roles. The resulting journey map clearly showed the bottlenecks and pain points, with rich, detailed data around each primary finding.

Impact
The University was very pleased with the final report, which highlighted a wide range of areas for consideration, with considered recommendations. They praised the way the insights "zoomed in," starting with a simple issue and then delving into detailed data and analysis.
